After my habilitation, I established my private surgery in Schloesselgasse, in Viennas
eighth district, at which my wife supported me over many years with extraordinary dedication.
In countless conversations, she was personally devoted to our patients fate and fully
engaged in our common efforts. Personally, my work at the office meant experiencing
medicine according to my own visions and possibilities in highly individualized and personal
relationships with my patients. Already then did I perceive the importance of interdisciplinary
treatment a concept that many years later resounded throughout the land and realized that
highquality cancer treatment is exclusively achieved by involving all diagnostic and therapeutic
disciplines that deal with oncological diseases.
